RUNION'S 2 GOALS LEAD PATRIOTS PAST UNITED

The Patriots returned to action Monday evening when they hosted United Christian by a score of 5-0. For the third game in a row the Patriots scored in the first few minutes of the game. Just 3 minutes into the game, Junior Lee Runion scored the first goal of the game. After a great build up, Ethan McGann received a pass about 25 yards out. McGann beat one defender than played a well-placed pass to Lee who made a great run in behind the defense. Runion took a quick touch around the on-coming goalie then quickly hit the ball into the unguarded net giving the Patriots the early advantage. Lee scored his second goal of the game just 6 minutes later. Adam Runion took a quick corner and chipped the ball to an open Lee at the top of the goal box. Lee took one touch then fired a shot to the upper right corner of the net giving the United netminder no chance of making the save. Adam Runion scored the final goal of the half at the 21st minute when he was assisted by Ethan McGann. McGann played a pass into the goalbox and Adam hit a shot to the opposite corner of the goal giving the Patriots a 3-0 lead going into halftime.

SVCA continued to dominate possession in the second half building several beautiful attacks. At the 53rd minute Ethan McGann scored a goal of his own when Lee Runion returned the favor for the Junior midfielder. Runion played a pass from the right side of the 18 to the middle of the box. Ethan blasted a shot past the Crusader goalkeeper. Nick Franks got in on the scoring when he scored the final goal of the game at the 73rd minute. Nick collected a lose ball just outside the goalbox beat 2 defenders and slotted the ball passed the goalie.

The Patriots outshot the Crusaders 28-3 with Nathan Steve making 1 save.
